What’s the Blue Light Treatment? How does it work? |
| |

|
|
There is now a new treatment available that doesn’t depend on medication. It’s called the BLU-U Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy.
The BLU-U is a very special blue light (uniform
narrow band blue visible light) that can kill the P. acnes bacteria in your skin, the bacteria that causes acne. When the skin is exposed to the Dusa Blue Light, the blue light enters the sebaceous glands that harbor the bacteria. In turn the sebaceous glands create oxygen molecules that than destroy the bacteria and help the healing process. With the bacteria gone, acne begins to clear up and skin begins to heal.
Treatments are simple – your simply sit with your face close to the light for a short time at a schedule set up by your doctor, usually a 15-minute session about three times per week. The treatments may go on for five weeks or so. It’s very safe, it’s not hot, it’s not painful at all. |
| |
BLU-U treatments can be a primary treatment, an alternative to
pharmaceuticals and topicals, or an adjunct to skin care programs. |
| |
The BLU-U was cleared by the FDA in 2003 for the treatment of moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris. |
